About the event
What is mending and why should I do it?
Mending is resistance! It’s the right to repair the things you already own and love, or give new life to things that may otherwise be treated as trash. It’s an expression of values, made tangible in your everyday life. Mending is an important part of “reuse” and extends the life of garments indefinitely.
Visible mending can take many forms, but in this class we will be focusing on minor repairs through the use of needle felting.
What is needle felting? How does it work?
Needle felting is a fabric creation technique that allows for fast yet precise and lasting repairs. It is both easy and exciting! Through the use of barbed needles and roving wool, fibers are intertwined and enmeshed with each other and the base that you are repairing, creating a sturdy patch on even delicate, easy to snag materials like cashmere.
